About GDCAS

Shelter Hours

  • Tuesday – Friday: 12 pm – 4 pm
  • Saturday: 11 am – 2 pm
  • Closed: Sundays, Mondays and Holidays!

Serving the city of Greensburg and all of Decatur County, Indiana, we are a local government funded facility that consists of Animal Control and the Animal Shelter. Our focus is domestic animal rescue and adoptions.

In spite of space limitations, our euthanasia percentage is less than half the national average due largely to our wonderful volunteers. We work very hard to provide a loving and caring environment for our animals while they are with us.

We are open to the public during the above hours. Adoptions are not limited to city or county residents. Come visit us and meet your future pet!

We gratefully accept donations of money and materials for animal care and enrichment.

  1. We have a black cat that is an indoor outdoor cat. We let him out this morning and he usually comes in in five minutes when it’s cold and he didn’t come back today. With it being so cold we were worried that he may have been picked up.

Can you tell me what brand of dog food you use for puppies that have been to your shelter? Do you have records of past puppies?

    1. Hi Kyle! Great questions. Our shelter runs mostly on donations so whatever is donated, we use! We do not stick to a specific brand. We keep record of all animals that come in and out of our shelter.

A couple of years ago, you had a spay/neuter clinic. We brought our cat up for it. It was so affordable and convenient. Do you still have these clinics for cats and dogs?

  10. Do you guys pick up stray cats within the county? We live in St. Paul and have a stray female calico cat that had a litter of 6 kittens on our front porch. I don’t have a carrier to put them in and we’d like to see them go to a good home.
