Our Home

Serving the city of Greensburg and all of Decatur County, Indiana, we are a local government funded facility that consists of Animal Control and the Animal Shelter. Our focus is domestic animal rescue and adoptions.

In spite of space limitations, our euthanasia percentage is less than half the national average due largely to our wonderful volunteers. We work very hard to provide a loving and caring environment for our animals while they are with us.

We are open to the public during the above hours. Adoptions are not limited to city or county residents. Come visit us and meet your future pet!

We gratefully accept donations of money and materials for animal care and enrichment. CLICK here to see our Wish List of items we need.

  2. I know that currently this shelter is under quarantine for cats, but still I want to rescue two stray kittens, supposedly 3-4 months old bedding right outside my apartment. Ok contacted near by county’s shelter and was told because it is owned by municipal government, they cannot take cats outside their county. Do you have any back up plan before the clearance of the quarantine on MARCH 14? I’m worried that the kittens may weaken and frigid with this severe winter weather. I have not been able to capture them. Please, any inputs or thoughts on such emergency situation is appreciated. Thank you.

    • Just seen where you are wanting to add a new pet to your family. We have a 7month old Golden Lab female. She has had all her shots and been spayed. We are older people didn’t realize how much playful she would have been. She’s just to much as a puppy for us to handle. Do you live in the country we do. She has been an inside and outside dog. Do you have children or other pets she does love other pets and I know likes kids I think this is what she needs someone to play alot with.

  8. Are you guys doing welfare checks right now? I just got a kitten from a lady and the kitten is deaf and she didn’t even know, had a major eye infection, covered in fleas, was anemic, and she had at least 14 cats in her home, adults and kittens all included. Can there be a welfare check on her? I’m scared for the health of the other cats.

  9. Will you have any more neuter for cats coming up? I have a 7 month old male kitten i want to get fixed but it is way to expensive for me to take him to the vet, especially with everything else going on.
Thanks for any help you can inform me on and for everything you all do for the animals.

  11. I’m looking for a female adult cat, fixed and declawed for safety reasons. I’m also 15 so that may be helpful to know since I cannot legally drive yet to get the cat. My cat recently went missing and we’re sure she’s not coming back. It’s not like her to be gone for over 2 weeks. Rest In Piece Kibbles

    • Unfortunately we do not offer shots to the public through our shelter .. you can always buy the dhppc and the bordetella through rural king or tractor supply and administer them yourself .. the only one that you would have to get thru a vet is the rabies
