Our Home

Serving the city of Greensburg and all of Decatur County, Indiana, we are a local government funded facility that consists of Animal Control and the Animal Shelter. Our focus is domestic animal rescue and adoptions.

In spite of space limitations, our euthanasia percentage is less than half the national average due largely to our wonderful volunteers. We work very hard to provide a loving and caring environment for our animals while they are with us.

We are open to the public during the above hours. Adoptions are not limited to city or county residents. Come visit us and meet your future pet!

We gratefully accept donations of money and materials for animal care and enrichment. CLICK here to see our Wish List of items we need.

  1. I’m trying to find a good forever home for a female dog that possibly has mini penture ,I’m not sure what else she looks like the taco bell fog alittle but not small medium, I took her in a year ago because the people couldn’t have her at the apartment they was at said they was going to throw her away. So very sad some one would even say such a thing but iv got 2 other dogs they don’t get along and I’m about to have a major surgery,I can’t really take care of her she’s very friendly, loves being around people and a very good dog just needs a good forever family, please 🙏 if anyone can help let me know I’d really appreciate it thanks

  3. My neighbor leaves his dog outside 24/7 without shelter from extreme weather. I witnessed the poor thing trying to find a dry spot around their house as it poured down rain, thundered, and lightening. This was after they left him out during an active tornado warning. Is there anything that can be done legally to these people who neglect their animal? It’s frustrating watching them ignore him and then listening to him whine and cry all night from the neglect. Please let me know what can be done. Thank you!

    • Yes, call the police. They can be arrested for animal abuse, neglect. Do you have a garage or dry, comfortable place for the dog to at least have shelter? Contact rescues and explain the situation and see if someone will take him.

  4. There was what seemed to be a stray dog wondering around late at night tonight on W country road 200 N. Had a cow bell tied around it’s neck. Tried to get close but ran away. Is there somewhere I can report this. I don’t live up here. Just here for 4th of July weekend.

    • Would you like to take a chiwawa from us possibly? We just got a little chiwawa, was told it’s about 8 months old, but can’t keep it. We have a big pitbull that she doesn’t get along with, he’s fine, her on the other hand we were told had been attacked by a big dog once. But figured they may end up getting along. Our dog buddy is so nice and friendly, but she yips and barks at him if they’re just in the same room!!! She also doesn’t get along with my sister’s cat, buddy has always been fine with the cat, but same issue as with buddy, she just yips and barks at the cat. The cat attacked her for it and she’s lucky we were close cause our cat could easily kill the dog as well I’m sure. It was an outside cat trained inside. We thought it’d be nice to get another dog for our dog buddy to play with, and the people who had her, just left her outside an apartment building for days chained up which is why we took her. We have been asking people if they’d like to take her without any luck. Don’t want to leave her caged up all the time, but we don’t know what to do with her..

  7. Lost dog!!!! Her name is Jasmine. She is tan with some black on her face. She looks like a mastif in the face but not big at all. About a foot tall. Very friendly and kind. She is almost 1 year old. Last seen around South Co Rd. 280 West in Greensburg. She’s been missing since last Wednesday the 13th.
Please let me know if you think you have seen her! We miss her so much.
    Thanks!!
